Hawaiian Style Wedding Dresses For Your Tropical Wedding!

hawaiian style wedding dresses

If you are getting married in Hawaii or on a beautiful beach somewhere, you are probably considering hawaiian style wedding dresses. When it comes to dresses for beach weddings, there really are no set rules. You can basically wear whatever you want to, though when you think of the beach and a tropical island you probably want something that is comfortable, airy and light.

Some really great fabrics to look for in hawaiian style wedding gowns include organza, chiffon, taffeta, satin and tulle. They are light airy fabrics that will help you stay cool. The colors you can choose are also endless but a crisp white looks really pretty when you consider the background of the clear water and blue skies.

As far as style is concerned you can easily wear a floor-length gown if that's what you feel suits you best or you may consider a shorter dress that hits at or below the knees or even above it.

Ball gowns are very beautiful and are available in both long and short length versions. These gowns are slim-fitting at the bodice and then flare out real wide at or below the waist. If sand and water is a concern, you may want to consider going with a shorter version, but if you don't mind if your dress gets a bit dirty then by all means go for a longer dress.

Sweetheart necklines are perfect for Hawaiian style wedding dresses but you always want to be sure to choose a neckline that compliments and suits your body type. You also need to decide whether you want your gown to be strapless or have straps. You could choose a halter style but it may be bothersome on your neck, particularly on a hot day.

Another Hawaiian style wedding dress that is popular is the mermaid-style gown. These are very slim-fitting through the bodice and the hips and then they flare out at or below the knee. They come in a wide variety of necklines including V-neck, scoop, sweetheart and halter.

As far as shoes go, sandals or even your bare feet would be best. Beach weddings are typically very casual and it's perfectly okay if you do not wear any shoes on your feet. It's your wedding day and you should do whatever makes you feel comfortable. You can always purchase a pair of special shoes to wear after the ceremony or during your reception if you're having one.

To add some Hawaiian style or flair you may consider wearing a flowered lei and or headpiece made using bright-colored, tropical flowers that blend in or provide contrasting colors to the theme you have in mind for your wedding. Some great tropical flower choices include orchids, hibiscus and anthuriums. Anthuriums are actually referred to as the hearts of Hawaii and you can get a handcrafted lei made using those flowers.

If you decide to have bouquets for you and anyone in your wedding party, you may want to use the same tropical flowers that you use for the leis and any headpieces. This will help bring your Hawaiian wedding together. Hawaiian style wedding dresses can really be anything you want it to be. It can be long or short, full, mermaid style or what have you. It's your day so you should wear what makes you comfortable.
