The 80's ushered in the style of the "huge puffy long sleeve wedding dresses." This is when I first became fasinated with wedding gowns. The wedding dresses of the 80's were very ornate and over the top, embellished with sometimes huge skirts but always big puffy sleeves to finish off the dress. (almost always, trademark 80's style) Every time you turned around soap opera digest had a new "soap bride" adorned in her wedding gown ready to marry yet again. The soaps for a couple of years back then seem to have an ongoing war in dressing their actress's in the next best puffy long sleeve wedding dress, each one more beautiful and elaborate than the last, it worked magic for the networks to drive up their viewer ratings.
Everyone seem to tune in for their favorite soap stars to wed. For Example ratings on GH when Luke and Laura finally got married were huge, one of the most anticipated soap wedding of all time. Note the beautiful long sleeve wedding dress that Laura wore. Soap weddings and wedding dresses were never bigger than back in the 80's. It was a fun decade to watch! Styles Of Sleeves T-shirt A simple more familiar sleeve is a great choice for brides who want some coverage, but don't want full long sleeve wedding dresses. Cap This is a shorter sleeve than the t-shirt sleeve, it is usually slightly rounded or scalloped. It just covers the top of your shoulder and works perfectly done in a light fabric contrasting the fabric of the rest of the dress for a fairy-tale like wedding dress. Off The Shoulder This style covers the upper part of your arms while exposing your shoulders and decollatage! This style looks great done in a 3/4 length or full length sleeve. It would look fantastic embellished with chiffon silk roses attached to the top of the sleeve just below the shoulders ina matching or maybe a contrasting color to stand out. Three-Quarter Length This falls midway between your elbow and wrist. It looks beautiful done in lace, bell shaped and flared at the bottom. Long Sleeves From flowing to arm hugging, simple, full, lacey or sheer long sleeves are a great choice if you don't like the idea of showing a lot of skin. Done in sheer it gives the illusion of full coverage. A full long sleeve is perfect for adding unique embellishments on the cuffs, such as embroidery or antique buttons. Maybe your family crest could be embroidered here on the cuffs of your dress making it an instant family heirloom for years to come. Spaghetti Almost as revealing as completely strapless, "spaghetti sleeves" are a barely there sexy strap to give the illusion of holding up the nodice of your dress. Usually skinny, but you can have thicker straps that maybe showcase a silk or beaded flower on one or both straps. You could also have just one side of your dress have just one strap with a songle flower attached to it.
