A Purple Wedding Dress Is A Bold Choice!

Dress designers took to infusing color into wedding gowns in the 1990's. From pastel underskirts to colored faux jewels and pearls, there are many ways to add a splash of color to your dress.

From deep royal purple to pastel lavender you can accessorize to add color. Or you can do your entire wedding gown in your favorite shade of purple.

In the last decade, designers have been using more color in wedding dresses than ever before. But brides through the years have chosen a purple wedding gown to compliment their own personal color preferences.

Purple was my grandmother's favorite color. My mother in 1968 wore a more casual lavender colored mini wedding dress to her wedding. The pictures on this page are from her wedding! Maybe looking at these pictures from when I was little is why lavender is also my favorite color! ( red runs a very close second.)

If you don't want to don a completely purple wedding dress you can opt for a colored underskirt that subtly shows through. You can also add adornments to your dress through colorful appliques, silk flowers or pearl beading.

Maybe a wrap to go over your dress in deep purple for the holidays or a pastel shade of lilac for srping or summer. A faux fur cape for a winter wedding will also add a splash of color to your ensemble.

Any shade of purple, from a deep royal purple to the most palest lavender is a very popular choice for bridesmaid attire and other wedding accessories.

Wedding invitations done in lavender mixed with silver are a very elegant touch. Blue girl roses which is a lavender shade are beautifully fragrant, and would make a spectacular choice for your bridal bouquet and boutonniere's.

An added benefit to a deeper colored purple wedding gown; you can relax during the reception a little more because it won't show every little drip of wine or dessert like a white or ivory wedding gown will.
