Beautiful Wedding Dress Pictures!

Wedding dress pictures are fun to browse through. It's how most brides start their quest for the perfect gown that suits them. When I was engaged I spent dozens of hours reading bridal magazines and searching the internet for "my dress". That is one advantage we now have is the ease of finding exactly what your looking for with the internet, it makes it easy and fun.

Necklines

Before deciding on the perfect style of wedding dress, it's a good idea to browse wedding dress pictures to get an idea of the different dress styles and how various necklines will complement them. While there are several basic styles of wedding dresses, necklines and other details like sleeve design and skirt length can make dresses within the same style category look vastly different from each other. Here are some things to consider when choosing the right neckline for your wedding gown.

Scoop and square neck styles: When perusing wedding dresses, you'll note that scoop and square neck styles are among the most versatile. Because they can be worn with any length of sleeve, a bride can have as little or as much arm coverage as she chooses. Scoop and square neck styles can be cut low for a risque look, or modestly cut for more coverage. Both are suitable for any body type.

V-neck and sweetheart necklines: V-neck and sweetheart necklines are actually great for women with smaller breasts, as well as those with large breasts. While this may seem like a contradiction, it's all about the cut of the neckline. A V-neck or sweetheart with a shallower, high-cut can provide support and show the natural shape of large breasts while providing control and minimizing exposure. At the same time, these styles in a lower cut can emphasize the bust to create the illusion of larger size.

Off-the-shoulder and bateau: Off-the-shoulder gowns showcase the neck and shoulders for an elegant look and can be worn with any length of sleeve for added coverage. This style allows for support in the bodice area while exposing the curves of the neck and shoulders. Similar to off-the-shoulder necklines, wedding dress pictures show that a bateau or "boat-neck" design are similar in shape to off-the-shoulder cuts, with a continuous neckline that runs from one shoulder to the other. Bateau necklines are most popular with a sleeveless style, and are a great option for brides with a larger bust, as the design tends to draw the eye to the neck and collarbone.

High collar: You'll notice wedding dresses can show a great deal of variability in high collar styles. In some cases, a high collar might be a lace overlay on top of a strapless bodice to provide peek-a-boo coverage of the bust area. Keyhole style cutouts can also expose a modest or more daring amount of cleavage. A high collar that provides full coverage can also create a look of classic elegance.

Strapless and halter: Strapless and halter gowns expose a bride's arms since both are, by definition, sleeveless styles. Any bride can opt for this look, but brides who are uncomfortable exposing the upper arms will want to choose another style. Because of the open, airy look of these necklines, they work particularly well for outdoor summer weddings.

In looking at different styles of wedding dress pictures, remember that necklines and other details can greatly change the look of a gown. There are no hard and fast rules for which body types should wear certain necklines, but brides who want to emphasize certain attributes can use this neckline style guide to help choose a neckline that best complements the particular shape of her upper body.
